Chapter 10

The suits had barely stepped into the showroom when Koradovich burst out of his office.  “Now what?  Haven’t I answered enough questions?”  He looked outside and saw three dark blue Crown Victorias, all with the big ass antennas on the trunk, which screamed FBI.  “Feds?  What next?  The Spanish Inquistion?”

“No one expects the Spanish Inquisition, sir,” said one of the suits, a guy in sunglasses who looked like Agent Smith from The Matrix.  With that monotone, he’d have fit right in.

Two of the salesmen laughed at the fed’s joke.

“Back to work!”  Koradovich stepped up to the lead fed, a casually dressed blonde who looked like she might have been fuckable back in the day.  He guessed by her hips she had two kids, maybe three.  “So let’s have it, sister.”

The woman reached into her purse and took out her ID.  “I’m Special Agent Kennedy with the FBI.  We have a warrant to confiscate all your business records.”

“The fuck?”

Agent Smith stepped forward and thrust the warrant at him.

“While we’re here,” said Kennedy, “I must inform you the Bureau has also executed a similar warrant against Ajax Security and Cossack Holdings.  Cooperate, and this will all be over soon.”

“I don’t believe this shit.”  Koradovich stomped off to Beamer’s cubbyhole…  And where was that shriveled fuck anyway?  It wasn’t like he had anywhere to go.

He dialed Prezbor and gave him a loud recap of what had just happened.

“Read me the warrant,” said Prezbor.

Koradovich did and never made it past the first paragraph.

“The feds smell blood, Andre,” said Prezbor.  “There’s nothing I can do for you now.  I’ll have to start filing motions come Monday morning.”

“What if I don’t have until Monday morning?”

“Relax,” said Prezbor.  “Do you have a missing holy relic on any of your properties anywhere at the moment?”

“Of course not.”

“Then you have until Monday.”  He hung up.

“Fucking Czech shyster.”  He went back out to the showroom and watched the feds cart off his filing cabinets and his computer hard drive.

Kennedy walked over to him and handed him another copy of the warrant.  “Sign here, please.  It acknowledges we informed you of the warrant and took only what we said we’d take.”

He snatched the warrant out of her hand and signed it “George W. Bush.”
